Whether it's tracking down an elusive cover image or handling a substantial picture list, I can help you with a range of projects. I am a freelance picture researcher, project manager, and permissions specialist with a background in fine arts, history (world, western civilization, U.S.), and architecture projects.
I spent ten years in the publications departments of The Metropolitan Museum and MoMA and another eight at The Visual Connection Image Research, Inc., a picture research company which specializes in history and art history research, before opening my own picture research company in 2014. I have extensive experience working with worldwide picture libraries, museums, academic institutions, governmental agencies, artists, designers, educators, photographers, art galleries and private collections.
I can accommodate most research budgets and production schedules and would be delighted to offer you any of the following services:
• creative research for a single cover image or management of a specific picture list containing hundreds of images
• creating spreadsheets to reflect workflow, permissions and costs
• setting and managing limited budgets
• negotiating reproduction fees for print, ebooks, DVDs and the web
• using web-based lightboxes to present and manage images online
• commissioning photography
• compiling picture captions and credits
• clearing permissions, liaising with artists and their estates, DACS, ARS, VAGA etc.
• clearing text or map permissions
• picture research for exhibitions
